Anyone that knows me, knows that I absolutely love new beginnings. The beginning of the week, a new month (one that especially begins on a Sunday), a new year, a new location, etc. I love them allll. I love celebrating the small things like the opportunity to enter a new month and going grocery shopping, cleaning, and making goals. New beginnings to me mean new opportunities, new blessings, and fresh goals. I think this comes from my mom always celebrating new beginnings when I was growing up. We always prepared for the week on Sundays, celebrated a new season by cleaning or redecorating the house, and completed our different traditions going into a new year.
One thing I have been struggling with during this specific new beginning has been the ambiguity of it all. It’s very scary when things don’t seem like they’re aligning or it randomly hits you at 3 a.m. like oh shoot I’m really moving to a city where I’ve never been and where I don’t even know anyone LOL. So this new beginning has left me pretty anxious and afraid, I won’t even lie. However, after watching a sermon by Sarah Jakes Roberts titled Adapted for Purpose a few things started clicking! One of my main takeaways was that our goals and dreams aren’t big enough if after we receive them, we stop praying or we stop leaning on God as much. I realized that I’m literally living in the midst of a prayer I’ve been praying for so long. I knew it was a big goal and would only be accomplished by God. However, I never really considered living out the blessing. I was only thinking about getting there, but not thinking about the steadfastness I would need or how I would have to lean on God even MORE than when I was praying for the blessing.
This realization was so beautiful because it gave even more purpose to my meaning of new beginnings and specifically this new beginning. For so long I only focused on getting to my blessing, goal or new beginning. Now, I know the importance of staying steadfast and trusting in God even more while he blesses me and when I am in the midst of the blessing I prayed for.
I have also been seeing a lot of butterflies recently and it has brought me so much joy. Butterflies represent change and the courage to embrace the transformation to make life better.
